Landscape in Progress

Here is the beginning of a painting I have been wanting to do for a while now. It is from an image I took one evening when walking my dogs, the sky was a gorgeous mix of blue and pink and the fields below were full of rapeseed - it just produced a stunning contrast of colours.

This is stage one just blocking in the shapes and colours.

Stage two; adding stronger colours and more definition.

Stage three; toning down the colour and softening the landscape. Plenty more to do, but a little bit of insight into my process and the way a picture is built up in layers of colour.
